AGENDA ITEM AND CONTENT

ACTION POINTS

1. INTRODUCTION

Our sixth meeting of session 2004/2005 was opened at 7.30 p.m. by our Chair, BK.

Welcome was extended to all attendees.

2. APOLOGIES

There were no apologies.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Copies of the minutes of the last meeting were available to all meeting attendees, who were given time to read and digest.

The minutes were accepted as being an accurate account of the meeting, nominated by Mr Mike Ogden and seconded by Ms Laura Corner.

4. MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was agreed that community council members who did not wish to participate in the Glasgow 10K could fundraise in other ways.

Following representations to NLC, the work to be done on Eastfield Road will be carried out more quickly and only one section of the road will be closed at a time.

The X3 service will return to Craigmarloch in May.

A number of issues were raised connected with road traffic issues;

Speeding on Glen Fyne Road is a problem. The police have been  requested to check speeds. We were reminded that the 20 mph speed limit is a legal limit and not merely an advisory,

Congestion is a problem at bus stops caused by parents driving their      children to the bus stop and then parking until the arrival of the bus,

AC will write to traffic police to request action at Eastfield Road and Glen   Fyne Road. AC will also write to both schools to ask them to encourage    (again) walking to school/car sharing.

Parts of Glen Lochy Road are single track and, in the snow, cars are    driving off the road and onto the grass,

AC to write to NLC to ask that reflective bollards be installed to clearly    mark the road.

Cul-de sacs throughout Craigmarloch are not being gritted in icy weather.    Some roads have grit bins but many do not. Council policy is that all roads should be gritted by the third day.

AC will write to NLC to request grit bins to be sited at all roads which are not treated. Consultation with affected residents will be required before   bins can be sited.

The planning department will approve the application by O2 to site a    mobile phone mast on Glen Fyne Road. There are meetings – in the      council chambers, Motherwell, on the 25th and at the Link centre – at      which interested parties can express views and gather information to aid in objecting to the planning application.

6. 2005 Projects

Details of notice boards are being circulated to community council members.

The Easter event.

Saturday 26th March 2pm – 4pm.

Letter to residents overlooking the green has been delivered providing information about the event and seeking any objections.

Activities will include an Easter egg hunt, an Easter bonnet competition and a best painted egg competition.

Community police will attend and we will ask them to close off Glen        Sannox View. Event advertising will highlight the lack of parking space in    the area. Litter will be collected at the end of the event.

The summer event.

First Saturday in august (6th)

Various themed activities are being considered. We need 40 volunteers for the afternoon.

9. Feedback from Community Councillors

AC  Community forum has established a subgroup to organise the half day local\plan event. It is likely to take place on Saturday 2nd April from 10am until 4pm.  The plan is to split into five groups to consider each of the five   topics – Housing, Environment, Town Centre/Retail, Business and the        economy and Transport and accessibility. Members of the community are    invited to attend this open meeting to contribute to the evelopment of the     local plan. Those who cannot attend but have issues they wish to be raised can communicate their ideas/concerns with CCC members via the website.

Problems with teenagers appear to be re-surfacing.  There are also             problems regularly on Friday nights at Craigmarloch Lodge. (The pub       closes for refurbishment on 28th February for 3 weeks)

JB            Crime Preventation Panel

Garden Sheds – leaflets are available reminding residents to secure their      sheds. Please inform Jo of any item you wish to be discussed at the CPP    via the website.

Yellow lines have been painted on St Mungo’s road which should improve the problems with parked cars.

LC   Young people who have been surveyed about a meeting are               unenthusiastic. AC will confer to discuss incentives for young people to      participate. Suggestions from the floor included goal posts for the football   pitch, which is well used during the summer months, and a concert in the     picnic area this summer.

MO         JAG is trying to gather as much information as possible using the  freedom of information act to inform their presentation to the enquiry. In    part these inquiries concern papers relating to decisions and public statements by ministers. The group intend to write to all community              councils asking them to back the JAG campaign.

SC           Will set up mechanism to allow residents to contribute their ideas prior to the 2nd April meeting.

10. Councillor GORDON MURRAY

Councillor Murray informed the meeting that Mrs Murray is seriously ill and, as he is covering her ward, he may not be able to attend the next meeting or two. If we wish to use Cumbernauld Primary School as our polling booth we must make representation to NLC.
