4. NHS Lanarkshire NHS Lanarkshire propose to close A&E at Monklands Hospital. Although Monklands is the busiest A&E department, Wishaw has the most up to date department. This proposal will provide A&E cover at Wishaw General and Hairmyres in East Kilbride for the whole of the NHS Lanarkshire area. Wishaw general will have to be extended if Monklands A&E is closed. Public consultation meetings will be held in the coming weeks (“A Picture of Health”) and A&E provision will be included in the discussions. Cumbernauld Community Forum has decided to set up a sub-committee to address health issues. |

5. Reports from Committee Members AC Various communications to the secretary were made available to the meeting including: Craigmarloch Lodge extension plans. The closing date for objections was 2nd of January. G Murray suggested that the council would probably still accept observations on the plan if they were submitted quickly. There was some discussion of an incident at Caraigmarloch Lodge at New Year and other public order incidents on Friday and Saturday nights. The concern was raised that we might lose Craigmarloch Lodge if incidents like these continue. AC will write to the owners expressing our concern and suggesting that security staff should be employed on Friday nights. North Area Committee is holding a budget consultation meeting on 26th January at 7.30pm in the district court, Bron way. Free calendars from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Various letters from G Murray. NLC local housing strategy annual review. Wickstead World catalogue for play park toys. Newsletter from MSP Margaret Mitchell. Scottish Water – Winter Warmer Campaign. Tea Dance 2006 flyers – every month in village hall. A youth meeting proposal was presented. A competition with significant prize(s) could be the hook to attract young people (12 – 16) to a meeting at which we could gather information on the requirements of our young people. The meeting agreed we should go ahead with this proposal and we will hold the event on 15th March possibly in Craigalbert Church. SC Positive feedback has been received following the December makeover of the website. We are looking for pictures of the Christmas event to post on the website. BK The Town Centre meeting organised by Cumbernauld Community Forum consisted of presentations by NLC officials followed by workshops, which addressed our vision for the future of Cumbernauld and key issues for regeneration. Presentations by officials were felt to be defensive in nature putting a positive spin on recent investment in the town. Antonine Mall delays were explained and it was suggested that development would progress early in 2006. Further meeting are planned. MO Gordon Murray (the architect) attended a Town Centre follow up meeting organised by the Forum. He expanded on the ideas presented in the “Demolition” program for developing a central heart to Cumbernauld. The Forum will set up a sub group to progress ideas for change. |
