ACTION POINTS

1. INTRODUCTION Our ninth meeting of session 2004/2005 was opened at 7.30 p.m. by our Chair, BK. Welcome was extended to all attendees.
 
2. APOLOGIES Apologies were received from Ms Jean Thomson, Ms Marion Young, Ms Ina McCabe and constables Scott and Millar.
 
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Copies of the minutes of the last meeting were available to all meeting attendees, who were given time to read and digest. The minutes were accepted as being an accurate account of the meeting, nominated by Ms Ailsa Clunie and seconded by Mr Mike Ogden.
 
4. MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES Matters arising were dealt with during the secretary’s report.
 
5. COMMUNITY POLICE REPORT Please report any incidents in the Craigmarloch area directly to the community police – telephone 503919.
 
6. AOCBThe X3 will return to Craigmarloch on Sunday 29 th May. The weekday service will be half hourly with extra buses at peak times. An hourly service will operate at the weekends.Laura Corner has informed us that she is unable to continue as a community councillor. BK expressed our thanks to Laura for the valuable contribution she has made and invited anyone in the community with an interest in becoming involved in the work of the community council to join us on the community council.Drivers are speeding on Glen Sannox Drive (and on other 20mph roads in Craigmarloch). The legal speed limit throughout Craigmarloch is 20mph – this limit is not merely advisory. Cllr McCulloch suggested that we seek the advice of the roads department regarding additional speed limit signs. AC will write to NLC and traffic police to seek their help.
 
7. Feedback from Summer eventDetailed plans are being developed. We are looking for possible sponsors – any suggestions will be welcomed. Look forward to the Bucking Bronco, Bouncy Castle and other appropriately named stalls and activities.
 
8. O2 Phone Mast O2 have appealed the refusal of planning permission for the Glen Fyne Road site. Objectors to the original planning application will be contacted by the Reporters Unit and will have 14 days to add to their objection.A letter has been sent to MSP’s canvassing support. We plan to visit the Scottish Parliament to lobby MSP’s.
 
9. Friends of the Park meetingBK and MO contributed to an article in the Cumbernauld News about the Town Park and the proposed public meeting. The editor of the News will chair the meeting on 2 nd of June. AC has written to all community councils in Cumbernauld to invite them to send representatives to the meeting.Cllr McCulloch explained the capital receipts strategy of the council and outlined a change in decision making he is trying to have implemented. This would require the council to take the amenity value of land into consideration before selling. Cllr McCulloch expressed his support for the protection of Town Park land. Cllr Murray suggested we invite David Jones (Head of Planning) to the meeting.
 
10. Treasurer’s ReportAccounts have been audited and passed.
 
11. Secretary’s ReportThere was no Forum meeting last month. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 24 th May.The following correspondence was received during the past month and was made available to the meeting: Clyde Valley Structure Plan, Doors open day event – part of European Heritage, NLC replied to our request to provide a polling place at Cumbernauld Primary. They will review the position following the local government elections in 2007, North Lanarkshire Anti-social Behaviour Plan, Copies of various letters from Cllr Murray.Craigmarloch Lodge have put up signs without planning permission. We have objected to signage close to the roundabout.We have written to the owners of Craigmarloch Lodge and to NLC asking for footpath access from Craigmarloch to be provided.
 
12. Feedback from Community CouncillorsMO JAG will show their presentation, showing the current A80 route and the route previously examined by consultants through the Kelvin valley, on 15 th June in Cumbernauld Primary at 7.30pm. In preparation for the public enquiry, the campaign group are sifting documentation from the Scottish Office and the local council archive. Cllr Murray is collecting all the relevant documentation since the beginning of the town.JB The last meeting of the Crime Prevention Panel before the summer break was the AGM. More community police constables have been promised to areas of the town which only have one officer.
 
13. Councillor B. McCullochCllr McCulloch’s contributions to the meeting are detailed elsewhere in the minutes.
 
14. Councillor G. MurrayThe planning committee will meet next week to consider to consider the planning application to build houses close to Cumbernauld House and Cumbernauld park.
 
12. DATE OF NEXT MEETING The date for the next meeting is as follows: 7.30 p.m., Thursday, 16 th June 2005, at Auchinbee Nursery.
